koh si chang
a few weekends ago some friends and i snuck away for the long holiday weekend to a little island off the coast. it only took a hour and half bus ride and a 45 minute ferry ride for us to arrive at our 7 sq. kilometer island.
since it was so small we were able to see the whole island and enjoy all of its beauty as well as get educated on the history of the island. the island has served as a convalescent home for many of Thailand’s royal families and has quite a history because of it. it also claims to have dracula’s home which has now been turned into a strangely foreboding pink hotel.
we relaxed and enjoyed each others company for 3 days. we ate some strange food and climbed many steps to see all of the sights. we played on the smallest beach i have ever seen and because of the earthquake in chile we had magnificent waves to play in. it was a wonderful weekend away from the busy lives we lead in bangkok.
i have been so blessed to be able to go to so many places while i have been here for so little money (i don’t think i spent more than 70 dollars on the whole trip). i have seen so much beauty and have fallen in love with the ocean. i will miss my home here so much but have enjoyed every minute of my time here!
